In AUB SVP café you can enjoy life with a fragrant cup of coffee, a tasty breakfast, a delicious healthy lunch or a refreshing cocktail. It is the ideal location to leave the hustle and bustle of the office or the Nieuwstraat behind.

After renovations in 1870  there was first a jeweler and later a photo shop in the building. In 1930 the business was converted into a second entrance to "Cinéma de la Monnaie". The facade lettering "Monnaie" refers to the then modern typography of Alfons Mucha. Six years later, the inscription turned into a glowing neon architecture. The entrance functioned as a ticket hall for the "Studio Etoile" cinema. The cinema room then became the last shelter in Belgium for "The Ballet of the XXth Century", led by Maurice Béjart. Unfortunately, speculators had this piece of metropolitan patrimony hopelessly dwindle.

In the beginning of this century, the building and the accompanying site behind the Muntschouwburg were renovated under the supervision of architect Bart Lens. Shortly after the opening, restaurant AUB-SVP won the "Commerce Design Brussels Award 2013".
